The High Road (Version 1)

I burned every bridge the last time I left town
I huffed and I puffed and blew the house down
Scorching the earth I had to outrun
All the fires blazing from battles I’d “won” 

It felt good at the time ~ all the burning terrain
But now I find myself praying for rain
I wish I could take back the words that I said
But all I can do is forge ahead

A downhill slide, of roadkill and broken glass

Lying in bed facing opposite walls
