New Song ~ Out of Sight, Out of Mind

This is a song I started writing out of the intense frustration I experience every time I see someone throw any kind of trash out of their car 😡

I’ve posted the original “poem” I wrote a few years ago, and will post the song just as soon as I upload it

6/6/21 Update:

Well, I’ve TOTALLY re-written this lyric! It’s always fascinating to me to see how a song changes and morphs as it’s being written. From the original poem “Let’s Quit,” you can see a vast transformation into a much less preachy, more wise-cracking lyric, that’ll go with a fast, rockin’ guitar track.

7/4/21 Update:

I’ve just tweaked the lyrics and recorded a very rough demo of this song using Garageband, with a built-in drum loop and a “70s heavy metal” guitar amp plugin 😀 This version is very punkish in attitude ~ who knows if this is the direction I’ll take when recording the song? I may play up the punk aspect or take it more in a rockin/bluesy direction, depending on my mood 😜 But I do love tweaking out my voice with the “fuzz” vocal effect. Garageband makes it very easy to record rough demos at home, giving me a feel for various ways to produce a song.

Second Version, June 6, 2021:

Luxury car
Vanity plate
Cut me off on the interstate
Now your brake light’s in my face
But I can handle it

Fast food bag
Passenger seat
Gotta keep that ride pristine
Go ahead and roll your window down

 Don’t bother to look
Just chuck it ~ like I knew you would
Soon you’ll be miles away

Out of sight, out of mind
Leave that junkyard far behind
Never give it another thought
Out of sight, out of mind
How is it I’m still surprised
I mean, you don’t have to live here, right?

I know it’s true that I haven’t met her
But I thought your mama would’ve taught you better
I thought your mama would’ve taught you better
I thought your mama would’ve taught you better
I thought your mama would’ve taught you bette

Out of sight, out of mind
Leave that junkyard far behind
Never give it another thought, yeah
Out of sight, out of mind
Never never never never never surprised
I mean, you don’t have to live here
You don’t have to live here, right?!

My backyard is your trash can
My backyard is your trash can every day
