“Coast” is a song I started writing years ago, but could never get past the lyrics for the first verse, and the groove I had in mind. So I kept the part I liked in my “Unfinished Lyrics” file, and the last time I rifled through those pages, this song jumped out at me.
I’d been feeling pretty melancholy lately, and listening to a lot of Pink Floyd (which you can hear a bit in the chord progression I chose). And I worked on it as I took my evening walks around the neighborhood.
I put this fun video together using the “A capella” app on my phone. I’m still getting the hang of recording flawless audio with that app, but I hope you enjoy it. 😊
Coast
I don’t believe in destiny
I don’t believe in meant-to-be
I don’t believe what I can’t see
So I guess it’s up to me
I learned how to face my fear
Learned how to persevere
Yeah after year
It’s what got me here
I lay my foot on the gas and go
But all I really wanna do is
Coast
Just coast
My soul feels tired
Hard to stay inspired
Still I chase my one desire
It’s how I’m wired
I lay my foot on the gas and go
But all I really wanna do is
Coast
Just coast
I’m not one to give up the ghost
But all I really wanna do is
Coast
